Rituals Lead to Habits

Rituals can play an important part in getting things done.

I have some rituals that I practice regularly. Meditation at a certain time every morning is one of them. Reciting my vision every morning and every evening is another one. Recently, I have begun the day with blogging in the morning.

There are some rituals like client follow-up, reading, voluntary work, spending time on my finances, that are ones that I do on a regular basis, but not at a specific time.

Email Management

Email has become second nature to most of us.  This can be a great tool or a real time killer!  I have found the following system to help me manage my email time.

I strive to open my Email account three times a day as follows:

First Time

Before I open the email, I have decided three to five emails I need to send out and one or two email replies I am expecting.  I make sure that I complete these tasks before I look at anything else!  How do I do that?

Daily Ritual

There are a lot of things to do today -- as they are almost every day and every week and every year.

Give a Break to the Old

In a school in China students throw eggs at the school uniform to wreck the uniform on graduation day. The action symbolizes a break from the past and a start of a new journey.

How about creating a ritual today where you break from the past - the past in your case can be a scarcity, mentality habit or lack of discipline.
