Being Authentic

Being authentic is powerful!  It reflects your true self - with all its beauty, grace and wisdom.

Everyone's inner self is pure.  It connects to all creation, not just other humans.  The inner spirit is what unites us.

Khalil Gibran says, "You give little when you give of your possessions, it is when you give of yourself, that you truly give."  True giving thus begins with authenticity.

However, even though being authentic ought to be simple because you are being your natural self, it has become complicated and hard for most people.  The reasons for this situation include the following:

  1. Conditioning - we are conditioned from childhood by parents, teachers, peers, and society.
  2. Insecurity - we don't trust our inner or authentic self.  We feel it may not be good enough.
  3. Scarcity - we are worried to give of ourselves for fear that someone will use that against us.

When you let go of all these unnecessary inhibitions, you begin to bloom like the flower, fly like a bird and shine like a star - so natural and effortless!

How about you?  Are you holding back your natural, innate gifts?  If so, why?
