Help Share the Power of Giving

You will find this at the end of each chapter of The Power of Giving reminding you to pass on this book and help spread "the giving virus".

The Power of Giving is currently not available for download.

There are so many ways that each person can take responsibility for spreading “the giving virus”—the box above names just a few. You may have some ideas yourself. We’d love to hear them, and pass them on to other readers and visitors to this website. Please send your ideas to info@thepowerofgiving.org .

More ways you can make a difference:

  • Start a reading group with your friends. Agree to read The Power of Giving and come up with ideas how your group can volunteer or do other giving work in your community.
  • If you’re already in a book club, propose that your group discuss The Power of Giving at one of its monthly sessions. Have people share their giving experiences. It could be a lively and fun conversation which produces many ideas that inspire you and other members to give more.
  • Consider having a family discussion about The Power of Giving. Talking to your children about giving is a great way to inspire them and build their moral fiber (see “Giving to your children” in Chapter Three of the book). Family meetings are a wonderful way to start helping your family set goals, solve problems, or work together on projects.
  • Both Azim and Harvey have worked on “giving projects” with their families. When family members work together, they create long-lasting memories and help strengthen relationships and understanding.
  • A core value of every faith group is giving. Consider developing a discussion group to talk about giving in your church, temple or mosque. It’s a wonderful way to enhance spirituality within your faith group, as well as giving you an opportunity to talk about how together you can make a difference to the greater community.
  • Students and teachers: By discussing some of the ideas or chapters in the book, you may motivate your students or classmates. With the help of your teachers, you could create a fun and memorable project. Ask your teacher to visit www.learningtogive.org for resources and lesson plans.
  • Consider downloading one of our banner ads to put on your own website, or send it on to your friends to add to their websites. The real power of this book is that people can get it for free and pass it on to other people. This is a form of giving that can leverage tremendous resources. Anything you can do would be immensely helpful. Click here to find out how to put a banner ad on your site.
  • Any business, community organization, union or other group can promote the ideas contained in The Power of Giving. There are many advantages to your members or employees becoming better “givers”. Here are just a few:
    1. They can have more fulfilling lives.
    2. They help build a stronger community.
    3. They feel great about helping others.
    4. They learn new skills.
  • Incorporating giving into your business, organization or nonprofit contributes to happier, more fulfilled employees and volunteers who in turn strengthen their communities.
  • We encourage you to distribute copies of The Power of Giving to group members or employees. And promote it in your newsletter or other communications materials. If you distribute an e-newsletter, please make sure to include a link to www.thepowerofgiving.org.
  • Purchasing bulk copies of The Power of Giving and distributing them to individuals is a great way to pass on its potentially life-changing message. The book also makes a great gift for volunteers or board members.
  • If you have media contacts in your community that would like to interview Harvey or Azim, or do a story on The Power of Giving, we’d love to hear from them. Contact us to arrange an interview.
